The internet. It is like a galaxy of infinite opportunities. One such opportunity is what IFG set the course for as the world’s nations held their heads in their hands, not quite fully comprehending the global pandemic that, simply put, shouted changes of astronomical proportions. Changes in lifestyles; changes in consumer habits; changes in reigning in panic and exercising patience; changes in dealing with anticipation of what might lie ahead and how best to approach it.
To some, this anticipation is a burden laden with questions that go unanswered. There is no relief in shifting it from one shoulder to the other. Hindsight is what it gives heed to under its weight, nothing more. To others, however, this anticipation lays a runway from which to take off and adapt. They make no room for hindsight. The only line of sight is ahead.
IFG looks ahead. It has always looked ahead and will continues to do so. In a well-planned, confident move, piloted by the best in knowledge and passion for education, it took off with its full academic crew aboard and headed for that galaxy of infinite opportunities I so passionately write about. It set the course and will not look back. It is driven by what it has to offer and what the world of prospective and current young professionals hopes – no! – expects to gain from it. It is determined on its mission. The mission of empowering the world through education that is literally virtual. Ah, you notice my play on words – yes, as creative as it is true.
By no means do I claim that this mission has been plain sailing. After all, what purpose is there in setting a challenge that you know has already been won?! It bores the mind. What sense of achievement is there to gain by denying yourself the chance to explore and exceed your expectations? You say none – and I concur. I have taken off with this mighty crew on its mission and seen the challenges. I have left the comfort zone of the four-walled classroom and stepped into, logged in to for that matter, the world of teaching online. Oh, the skills I have acquired, guided by the crew’s desire to propel me into the virtual classroom! The teaching platform I have embraced for its friendliness and functionality! The methods of delivering learning and engaging students in discovering their strengths! The techniques of navigating around obstacles that encourage us all to persevere and sit tall at our desktop stations, not giving up, not getting discouraged! These times of challenges and opportunities have made us stronger and more confident in who we are and what we are able to achieve for, remember, the only line of sight is ahead.
With all that in mind, I call upon you – you, the prospective students – to join us, the IFG academic crew, in learning online.
