EDSOUK – The Career, University and Scholarship Fair in Doha, Qatar

On 22nd & 23rd November 2024 our Marketing Manager in Abu Dhabi, Maria Mohammad attended the EDSOUK Fair in Doha, Qatar, which was organised by Right Track Consultants, Qatar – a leading careers and college guidance centre, in association with Olive International School, Qatar.

Grade 9-12 students from Indian schools and their parents joined the 2-day career exploring activities and workshops and had the opportunity to learn about their future academic pathways.

IFG would love to thank everyone who made the idea of the event come true, and special thanks go to Bhavyata Bendre, Founder and CEO of Right Track for her endless and much-appreciated efforts.

IFG Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Stefan Green, attends St. Georges University (SGU) School of Medine FAM trip in Grenada

Our Director of Marketing & Partnerships, Stefan Green, recently attended the SGU FAM trip to Grenada in the Caribbean to learn more about the Medical school and life on campus and in Grenada. The FAM trip focussed on admissions requirements, accommodation, student facilities, security & safety as well as a demonstration of the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in the classroom. Participants also toured the Anatomy Laboratory and Clinical Exam Rooms to see how students learn the practical side of medicine. The FAM trip finished with a tour of the island to visit shops and other facilities available for students who choose to study medicine at SGU. All IFG Medical Foundation students who choose St. Georges Medical will spend at least one of their 5 years at the main campus in Grenada but do have the option of studying 2 years at their campus at Northumbria University in Newcastle as well.

IFG would like to thank everyone at SGU for an excellent, once in a lifetime FAM trip which will help IFG advise our Medical Foundation students of the exciting opportunities at SGU.

University of Brighton visits IFG Abu Dhabi

Simon Morley, International Recruitment Manager for Rest of World at the University of Brighton, recently visited our Abu Dhabi campus and met with our Foundation students.

He gave them a detailed presentation where they learnt about life and study at Brighton, entry requirements and fees, as well as scholarships and employment opportunities they will have after graduation.

We would like to thank Simon for his visit and enlightening our students about Brighton.

IFG Abu Dhabi students: second step towards university in the UK

Writing a Personal Statement and uploading it to your UCAS application is the second important step towards undergraduate study at university in the UK.

A Personal Statement is a 2,000 to 4,000 character essay that is the students’ opportunity to tell universities about themselves and why they should be offered a place. IFG Abu Dhabi students received a detailed presentation by their Study Skills lecturer, where they learnt the purpose of a Personal Statement, its structure, what to include and what to leave out. They also learnt what plagiarism is and were given guidance on how to avoid it. These students have now started writing the first drafts of their Personal Statements.

Mentorship Programme at IFG Abu Dhabi

While transitioning from school life to university life, each student at IFG Abu Dhabi is assigned a student mentor – an experienced student who successfully finished their Foundation Year at IFG.

Student mentors aid with the difficulties new students face during their Foundation; the assistance and support they receive covers all areas of academic life: doing coursework, time management, meeting deadlines, preparing for presentations and projects as well as studying for exams. Student mentors also support the wellbeing of new students and give them advice on how to manage stress.

After all, who’s better at guiding you than someone who’s travelled the path you aspire to follow?!

IFG staff at the Najah Higher Education Fair, Abu Dhabi

From 27 – 29 October 2024, our Abu Dhabi Academic Director, Tatiana Kolevatova and Marketing Manager, Maria Mohammad participated in the 18th edition of Najah Higher Education Fair at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), where they met and interacted with potential Foundation students.

High school students and their families were given sufficient information to help them make informed decisions about their future education. The event, which attracts around 15,000 visitors each year, was also a great opportunity to meet with teachers, principals, school counsellors and other higher education advisors.

Start of a new academic year at IFG Abu Dhabi

IFG Abu Dhabi organised a tour around the beautiful capital for some of their new international students. Among the places they visited were Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the largest mosque in the UAE and third largest in the world; Yas Island – home to Ferrari World, Waterworld, Seaworld, Warner Bros. World and Yas Marina Circuit that hosts Ferrari 1 racings; and the Cultural District on Saadiyat Island where Louvre Abu Dhabi is located. The last stop of the trip was Abu Dhabi’s beautifully landscaped Corniche – the famous embankment in the centre of the capital with nice parks, beaches and walking.
