IFG Personal Relationships Policy - International Foundation Group (IFG)
Loading...

IFG is committed to creating a safe, respectful and professional learning environment where all students can succeed. Because staff may hold positions of responsibility and trust (for example in teaching, assessment, supervision, admissions or student support), personal relationships can create real or perceived conflicts of interest, affect fairness, and raise safeguarding concerns. This policy sets out clear expectations to protect students and staff, and to maintain confidence in IFG’s academic and pastoral processes.

In line with IFG’s duty of care and safeguarding responsibilities, intimate (romantic/sexual) relationships between staff and students are prohibited, including where students are aged 18 or over. Where there are pre-existing close personal relationships (for example, family relationships) or relationships between staff members, IFG requires disclosure so that appropriate steps can be taken to remove or manage any conflict of interest (such as changing supervisory, teaching, or assessment arrangements). Students are not required to declare relationships, but you can raise concerns or seek advice if something does not feel appropriate or safe.

This policy also applies to online behaviour and social media, and it links to IFG’s wider approach to safeguarding, professional boundaries and responding to concerns. If you experience or witness behaviour that may breach professional boundaries, you can report it and IFG will respond in a way that is fair, confidential where possible, and focused on student wellbeing and safety.
